Zusammenfassung
Die internationale Forschung im Bereich der Organisationskommunikation beschäftigt sich seit mehr als einem halben Jahrhundert mit Fragestellungen, wie Kommunikation sachliche, soziale und zeitliche Orientierung in und für Organisationen stiftet. Trotz ähnlich gelagerter Ausgangsfragen findet diese Forschung aufgrund unterschiedlicher Wurzeln in der deutschsprachigen kommunikationswissenschaftlichen Forschung zur Mitarbeiterkommunikation bisher vergleichsweise wenig Beachtung. Dieser Beitrag bemüht sich aus diesem Grund um eine stärkere Annäherung der beiden Forschungsbereiche. Dazu skizziert er zuerst knapp die historische Entwicklung der internationalen Organisationskommunikationsforschung. Anschließend wird deren aktuell prominenteste Perspektive – „Communication as Constitutive of Organization“ (CCO) – vorgestellt. Abschließend wird gezeigt, welche Neubetrachtungen diese Perspektive gerade in Bezug auf aktuelle Herausforderungen der Mitarbeiterkommunikation im Kontext post-bürokratischer Organisationen erlaubt – insbesondere im Hinblick auf dezentrales Arbeiten, durchlässige Grenzen sowie konstante Wandlungsbereitschaft.

Wir schlagen in diesem Beitrag eine alternative Systematisierung der Funktionen von Mitarbeiterkommunikation anstelle der etablierten Orientierungs-, Informations-, Motivations- und Sozialfunktion (Barkela et al. 2021; Einwiller et al. 2021) vor. Wir sprechen von sachlicher, sozialer und zeitlicher Orientierung, wobei erstere auf funktionale Zweckerreichung, die zweite auf Schaffen von Zugehörigkeit, die dritte – bisher eher unberücksichtigt – die Herstellung zeitlicher Perspektive abstellt.

Hierbei gilt es zu bedenken, dass der Textbegriff bei Taylor und Van Every (2000) nicht allein konkrete Schriftstücke meint, sondern abstrakter gedacht ist und sich z. B. auch auf audiovisuelle Inhalte, Techniken oder Architektur beziehen kann. Entscheidend für den Textbegriff (im Gegensatz zum Konversationsbegriff) ist, dass es um die „geronnene“, manifeste und damit verstetigte Seite der Kommunikation geht (siehe auch Kuhn 2008).
