Dr. Hongliang Ren is currently Assistant Professor and leading a research group on medical mechatronics in the Biomedical Engineering Department of National University of Singapore (NUS). He is affiliated Principal Investigator for the Singapore Institute of Neurotechnology (SINAPSE), NUS (Suzhou) Research Institute, and Advanced Robotics Center at National University of Singapore (NUS). Dr. Ren received his Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering (Specialized in Biomedical Engineering) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2008. Prior to joining NUS, he worked as Research Fellow at The Johns Hopkins University, Children's Hospital Boston & Harvard Medical School, and Children's National Medical Center, USA. His main areas of interest include biorobotics & intelligent control, medical mechatronics, computer-integrated surgery, and multisensor data fusion in surgical robotics. Dr. Ren is IEEE Senior Member and Recipient of IAMBE Early Career Award 2018.
Dr. Victor Wang is currently Associate Professor in Singapore Institute of Technology. Dr. Victor Wang graduated from Loughborough University with a First in Aeronautical Engineering (B.Eng., 2008) before reading his Doctorate in Aerodynamics, specializing in Computational Fluids Dynamics (2012). His current research interest is in applied aerodynamics, using both computational and experimental methods to capture complex but interesting flow behaviors that can be applied to a wide range of engineering applications. Dr. Victor Wang is Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and Senior Member of Institute of Engineers, Singapore.
Dr. Eyasu Getahun Chekole is currently a Research Fellow in Cybersecurity at Singapore University of Technology and Design. Previously, he was a Research Scientist in Cybersecurity at the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore, an Assistant Researcher in Cybersecurity at the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) in Italy, a Software Engineer at Femar Consulting s.r.l in Italy, and aSoftware Engineer at the Information Network Security Assurance (INSA) in Ethiopia. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Singapore University of Technology and Design (in Singapore), an M.Sc. in Computer Science from University of Trento (in Italy), and a B.Sc. in Computer Science & IT from Arba Minch University (in Ethiopia). His research interests include software and system security, memory safety, industrial control and cyber-physical systems security, IoT security, applied cryptography, and Blockchain.
Dr. Umayal Lakshmanan is a drug discovery scientist at Experimental Drug Development Centre, A*STAR (Agency for Science Technology and Research). She obtained her PhD from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. Her expertise is in Drug discovery projects in the fields of Oncology and Infectious diseases. She was project leader for several drug discovery collaboration projects with local and international Institutes and Universities. She started her career in drug discovery by leading an ASTAR-BMRC-DSTA grant project in collaboration with DSO to develop and establish a new technology platform for antimicrobial drug discovery, using a whole animal assay for high throughput screening. She was the project leader for the NMRC grant based TB drug discovery project responsible for target-based whole cell high throughput screen for inhibitors and activators of the mycobacterial caseinolytic protease (Clp) degradation complex. She was part of the highly successful SPRINT-TB international collaboration team and led the project for Theme-1 on whole cell High Throughput Screening for identification of novel anti-mycobacterial targets and later on for the NRF-grant based TOPNET program in collaboration with NTU and other international Universities. She also played important roles in various oncology drug discovery campaigns with diverse targets involving epigenetics, kinases and metabolic pathways. She has been an invited as well as selected speaker in various international conferences and symposiums on Drug discovery.
