Zusammenfassung
Bei der Adipositas handelt es sich um ein heterogenes Zustandsbild multifaktorieller Genese (genetische Prädisposition, Lebensstil, soziale Situation). Daneben zeigt sich auch eine ausgeprägte Heterogenität bezüglich der vorliegenden Persönlichkeitsstruktur und der psychischen Gesundheit bzw. psychischen Störung. Es gibt also nicht den Adipösen, die psychische Störung der Adipösen und nicht die Therapie, die für alle Adipösen passt. Aussagen können auch fast ausschließlich nur über die Adipösen gemacht werden, die sich einer entsprechenden Behandlung unterziehen. Ob Adipöse, die keine professionelle Behandlung beanspruchen, psychisch gestörter oder weniger gestört sind, kann deshalb nur bedingt beantwortet werden. Adipositas ist auch keine psychische Störung im engeren Sinne, trotz der häufigen Koexistenz von psychischen Störungen, sondern sie sollte zu den „sozio-psycho-somatischen Krankheiten“ mit einer multifaktoriellen Genese gezählt werden.
