Zusammenfassung
Eine neo-institutionalistisch geprägte PR-Forschung fokussiert sich auf nicht-hinterfragte gesellschaftliche Erwartungsstrukturen und deren Auswirkungen auf die strategische Kommunikation von Organisationen. Sie bietet mit eigenen Theoriefiguren wie Rationalitätsmythen, Entkoppplung und dem organisationalen Feld ein alternatives Erklärungsraster zu vorherrschenden Konzepten der rational-instrumentellen Steuerung. Der Beitrag klärt den Zusammenhang zwischen Neo-Institutionalismus und PR-Forschung, zeigt unterschiedliche Analyseebenen auf und liefert einen Ausblick auf konvergente Strömungen zu einem kommunikativen Institutionalismus.
