Zusammenfassung
Ein wichtiges und daher extensiv erforschtes Strukturierungsprinzip von Filmen ist das Erzählen, die unabhängige kommunikative Vermittlung einer temporal-kausalen Ereigniskette. Die Filmnarrativik hat zum einen die Interaktionen von Figuren, typische Entwicklungsmuster und intertexuelle Tiefenstrukturen von Erzählfilmen untersucht. Zum anderen wurden der narrative Vermittlungsprozess zwischen Fabula und Sujet, das Zusammenwirken visueller und auditiver Erzählinstanzen, die Schichtung mehrerer Erzählebenen, das komplexe Phänomen der Erzählperspektive sowie die Rolle des Rezipienten beleuchtet. In historischer Hinsicht hat die filmwissenschaftliche Erzählforschung intern zwischen mehreren Erzählstilen differenziert und extern der Narration die alternative Ästhetik der Attraktion gegenübergestellt.
