Zusammenfassung
Die Entstehung und Behandlung von Schmerzerkrankungen wird nach modernen Vorstellungen im Rahmen eines biopsychosozialen Modells verstanden. Dabei werden als pathogenetische Mechanismen nicht ausschließlich somatische Faktoren betrachtet, sondern auch psychosoziale Mechanismen für die Genese wie für die Aufrechterhaltung der Symptomatik verantwortlich gemacht (Kap. Psychologische Schmerzdiagnostik).
