Summary
After a brief description of the allergenic pollens involved in pollinoisis in Italy, the author outlines the structure of the pollen grain and its mechanism of allergenicity. The methods of isolating and evaluating allergens are listed, in addition to the principal allergenic pollens. In conclusion, the author underlines the need for international standardization of allergenic extracts to be used for research and clinical purposes.
