Abstract
Flexibility was one of the most important reasons that the Lost Leaders chose self-employment. Corporations should consider accommodating such flexibility if they want to stop losing such high-potential employees. Joyce, in her book on work-life balance, studied various alternative work arrangements, and expanded on them with her own opinion:
There was one study of the women who left corporate jobs to go start their own companies. I don’t remember the percentage, but it’s significant. They left because they could not get the flexibility they wanted and needed at a traditional job. It would be nice if there was more flexibility, especially now that you can work from anywhere, why can’t you just telecommute some of the time?
