Abstract
Let G be a group and X a set. We say G acts on X if there is a map G × X → X (usually denoted by (g, x) → g · x) satisfying the following axioms for all x ∈ X:
-
(1)
1 · x = x, where 1 denotes the identity of G;
-
(2)
(gh) · x = g · (h · x) for all g, h ∈ G.
