Zusammenfassung
Seit seinem Auftreten um die Jahrtausendwende findet das Thema Präsentismus steigendes Interesse in der Fachwelt. So erzielt der Begriff „presenteeism“ (englisch für Präsentismus) in der Suchoberfläche PubMed beispielsweise insgesamt 658 Treffer (Zugriff am 28.06.16). Auch in der Praxis ist der Begriff mittlerweile vielen Akteuren geläufig.

Beispiel: Schlafstörungen führten im Rahmen der Studie im Durchschnitt zu einem Verlust von 4,64 Arbeitstagen pro Mitarbeiter im Jahr (Fehlzeiten + Präsentismus). Litt ein/e Teilnehmer/in gleichzeitig unter einer depressiven Verstimmung verdoppelte das im Durchschnitt ihren/seinen jährlichen Produktivitätsverlust (8,32 verlorene Arbeitstage im Jahr) (Iverson et al. 2010, S. 1208).

im Rahmen der Hochrechnung der Präsentismuswerte wurden die zuvor ermittelten Fehltage von den Jahresarbeitstagen abgezogen (da an Fehltagen keine beeinträchtigte Arbeitsleistung möglich ist).

Iverson et al. berufen sich im Rahmen der Adjustierung der Präsentismuswerte (Reduzierung um 32 %) auf die erste zentrale Präsentismusstudie von Burton et al. (1999) bei der Bank One. Im Rahmen dieser Studie wurden die Selbsteinschätzungen von 564 Beschäftigten aus dem telefonischen Kundendienst einer Bank anhand des Worker Productivity Index (WPI) mit den standardmäßig erhobenen Produktivitätskennzahlen verglichen. Bei Letzteren handelte es sich um zeitbezogene Kennzahlen (Dauer, die ein Kunde in der Warteschlange ist; Dauer der Telefonate; Zeit, die für Nachbereitung eines Telefonats oder die Recherche verwendet wird etc.) und die (qualitative) Beurteilung von Telefonaten durch Supervisoren.

Bonding social capital bezieht sich auf die Qualität der sozialen Beziehungen in einem Arbeitsteam (vertrauensvolle und kooperative Beziehungen im Team). Mit dem bridging social capital untersucht man die Qualität der Beziehungen zwischen den sozialen Gruppen (z. B. Teams) einer hierarchischen Ebene. Linking social capital meint schließlich die vertikalen Beziehungen zwischen Mitarbeitern und ihren Vorgesetzten (vgl. van Scheppingen et al. 2013)

Nach Kühnel und Krebs (2001) und Weins (2010) können folgende Faustregeln gelten: Korrelationen zwischen 0,05 und 0,20 gelten als gering, Korrelationen zwischen 0,20 und 0,50 als mittel und Korrelationen über 0,50 als hoch und über 0,70 als sehr hoch. Die genannten Regeln gelten sowohl für den negativen als auch den positiven Wertebereich.
