Zusammenfassung
Aufbauend auf der bisherigen Forschung zu PR-Rollen und theoretischen Überlegungen der dynamischen Rollentheorie entwickelt der Beitrag eine Rollen-Systematik für PR-Praktikerinnen und – Praktiker. In einer explorativen Beobachtungsstudie im Rahmen eines Master-Hauptseminars wurde überprüft, ob die theoretisch hergeleiteten Rollen in der Realität beobachtbar sind. Die Ergebnisse erlauben interessante erste Einblicke in das komplexe berufliche Handeln von PR-Praktikerinnen und -Praktikern und bestätigen die Annahme, dass die Role-Sets dieser Personen vielfältig und dynamisch ausgeprägt sind. Neben diesen Befunden war ein weiteres wichtiges Ziel der Studie, Beobachtung als Methode für die PR-Berufsfeldforschung zu prüfen. Bisher wurden nur wenige Beobachtungsstudien zu kommunikationswissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen durchgeführt. Eine Kombination aus qualitativen und quantitativen Erhebungsmitteln hat sich als gewinnbringend erwiesen. Für die Zukunft wird die Kombination der Methode mit einer qualitativen Befragung empfohlen, um über die reine Beobachtung hinaus Meinungen und Einstellungen zu erheben.
