Zusammenfassung
Landschaften, die durch umfangreiche strukturelle Veränderungen geprägt sind (bspw. altindustrielle Regionen, wie das Ruhrgebiet), behalten sozial und kulturell bedeutsame Landschaftselemente der Vergangenheit. Diese bedeutungstragenden Landschaftselemente sind nahezu ausschließlich auf die visuelle Dimension beschränkt. Landschaftsarchitektonische Inszenierungen altindustrieller Bauten zum Erhalt und gleichzeitig zu einer Neuinterpretation vergangener Landschaften sind im Ruhrgebiet vielerorts zu sehen. Landschaftsprägende Elemente der industriellen Vergangenheit anderer sensorischer Kanäle, bspw. Gerüche und Klang, vergehen dabei und sind aufgrund ihrer physikalischen Eigenschaften kaum zu erhalten. Aktuelle Entwicklungen im Software- und Hardware-Bereich sowie in der dadurch beeinflussten Methodenentwicklung der 3D-Kartographie bieten moderne Ansätze, um Klanglandschaften der Vergangenheit digital zu erhalten sowie in Echtzeit-Simulationen erfahrbar zu machen. Mit Systemen der immersiven Virtual Reality (VR) liegen bereits erste Ansätze und Projekte vor, die historische Landschaften zugänglich machen. Audiorealistische Klangsequenzen, deren Bestand auch durch die weltweit vernetzte Open-Data-Community maßgeblich mitgestaltet wird, können dabei berücksichtigt und als 3D Sound in VR-Applikationen integriert werden. Audiovisuelle VR-Landschaften können damit vergangene Sachverhalte faktisch abbilden. Zudem können sie der (sozial-)konstruktivistischen Landschaftsforschung dienen, um individuelle und soziale Raumdeutungs- und Raumbewertungsmuster zu untersuchen.
