Zusammenfassung
Ziel des Beitrages ist eine Analyse der politischen Landschaft zur Bundestagswahl 2017. Dazu werden sowohl Daten aus gängigen Expertenbefragungen als auch aus Wahlhilfen („Voting Advice Applications“; VAAs) herangezogen. Der Beitrag zeigt, dass die politische Landschaft 2017 in zwei Lager, das „bürgerliche“ und das „linke“ Lager, gespalten war, was im Wesentlichen auch der Ausgangslage der Bundestagswahl 2013 entspricht. Weiterhin können wir zeigen, dass die Nutzer der VAA „Bundeswahlkompass“ sich tendenziell näher an der politischen Mitte verorten als die von ihnen präferierten Parteien. Abschließend identifizieren wir anhand einer Analyse der Kandidatendaten zur Bundestagswahl mithilfe der Daten der VAA „Kandidaten-Check“ Themen, die auf einen hohen innerparteilichen Konsens bzw. Dissens hinweisen.

Weiterhin existieren zahlreiche Ansätze, die meist anhand dimensionsreduzierender statistischer Verfahren Links-Rechts-Positionen bestimmen. Dies umfasst bspw. das Skalieren von Abstimmungsmustern in Parlamenten oder die statistische Analyse von Worthäufigkeiten (Laver, Benoit, und Garry 2003; Slapin und Proksch 2008). Diese Ansätze lassen sich dem „a posteriori“ Verständnis von Politikpositionen zuschreiben, da die Verfahren in der Regel keine Annahmen darüber treffen, welche Inhalte konkret mit „links“ und „rechts“ assoziiert werden.

Das gemeinsame Wahlprogramm ergänzte die CSU durch ihren „Bayernplan“. Zwar wäre dadurch auch eine Verortung der CSU möglich, jedoch veröffentlichte die CDU kein eigenes Wahlprogramm, was eine nachweisbasierte Positionierung verhinderte.

Dieser Befund ist jedoch insofern mit Vorsicht zu genießen, als dass VAAs überproportional von links-liberalen Wählern genutzt wird (Wall, Krouwel, und Vitiello 2014, 421). Insofern ist es auch möglich, dass der Bundeswahlkompass häufiger von „linkeren“ CDU/CSU-Anhängern genutzt wurde.

Nutzer konnten außerdem angegeben, dass sie nicht zur Wahl gehen werden. Da diese Option aber nur von wenigen Nutzern gewählt wurde, ist eine separate Analyse dieser Gruppe nicht sinnvoll.
