Part of the book series: Catalysis by Metal Complexes ((CMCO,volume 27))

Abstract

Synthesis of alkene/carbon monoxide cooligomers and copolymers by transition metal catalysts was pioneered more than 50 years ago by Reppe using nickel based complexes. The Reppe [1] catalyst produced only low- melting oligomers and was not used on an industrial scale. A further development of the nickel based catalyst by Klabunde [2] and Keim [3] led to the synthesis of low molecular weight copolymers.
