Zusammenfassung
Familien sind der primäre Entwicklungs- und Bildungskontext von Kindern. Nicht nur in der Kindheit, sondern auch lange danach spielen Familien eine entscheidende Rolle in der Förderung und Unterstützung ihrer Familienmitglieder – nicht zuletzt im hohen Alter. Fraglos ändern sich die Aufgaben und Beziehungen im Verlauf der Familienentwicklung, wobei die jeweilige Lebenslage und der Kontext, in dem das Familienleben stattfindet, eine wichtige Rolle für die Ausgestaltung der Interaktionen spielt. Wie sich die Anforderungen an Eltern im Verlauf der Familienentwicklung wandeln, welchen Einfluss kritische Lebensereignisse auf das Familienleben haben und welche Aspekte des Familienlebens für die Entwicklungschancen von Kindern und Jugendlichen besonders relevant sind, ist Gegenstand dieses Kapitels.
