Zusammenfassung
Als Aortenaneurysma wird eine umschriebene abnormale Erweiterung der Hauptschlagader bezeichnet. Ursächlich für 90 % der Aortenaneurysmen ist die Arteriosklerose. Man unterscheidet die Aneurysmen der Aorta nach ihrer Lokalisation in thorakale (TAA) und abdominelle (AAA oder BAA [Bauch-]) Aortenaneurysmen. Als behandlungsbedürftiger Aortendurchmesser wird beim BAA eine Erweiterung auf über 50 mm angesehen, beim TAA ist die kritische Größe bei Erwachsenen bei einem Durchmesser von 60 mm erreicht. Eine weitere Behandlungsindikation stellt ein schnelles Wachstum (>1 cm/Jahr) dar.
