Zusammenfassung
Jeder Mensch lebt in seiner eigenen Wahrnehmungswelt. Normalerweise nimmt ein Konsument bei seinem Einkaufsbummel in einem Warenhaus nicht alle dort verfügbaren 100.000 Artikel bewusst wahr, sondern konzentriert sich auf eine Auswahl und stellt seinen eigenen Warenkorb, der sich von denen anderer Kunden unterscheidet, ganz individuell zusammen. Dies ist eine Folge seiner Wahrnehmung. Wahrnehmung ist ein subjektiver, selektiver und konstruktiver Vorgang. Im Rahmen dieses Beitrags wird zunächst der Wahrnehmungsbegriff erläutert und darauf hingewiesen, dass es sich bei der Wahrnehmung in der Regel um ein komplexes Zusammenspiel verschiedener Sinnesorgane handelt, wodurch das Individuum letztlich versucht, eine kognitive Repräsentation der Umwelt (z. B. einer Einkaufsstätte) zu bilden. Besonders relevant ist hier die visuelle Wahrnehmung. Neben der bewussten, spielt auch die unbewusste Wahrnehmung am Point-of-Sale (POS) eine entscheidende Rolle. So wird die Hintergrundmusik am POS oftmals nur unbewusst erlebt, sie kann aber unser Verhalten beeinflussen. Wahrnehmung ist stets kontextabhängig, der Kontext kann beeinflussen, wie wir die Umwelt wahrnehmen. So werden vermutlich viele Konsumenten frisch gebackenes Brot wahrnehmen und in der Folge auch kaufen, wenn ein entsprechender Duft am POS zu riechen ist. Der Kontext kann wiederum entsprechend gestaltet werden. In diesem Artikel werden die Relevanz der Wahrnehmungsforschung für die Erklärung des Konsumentenverhaltens sowie praktische Schlussfolgerungen für das (Handels-)Marketing erörtert.
