Zusammenfassung
Ein Kompetenzmanagement umfasst die systematische Planung, Steuerung und Kontrolle von Kompetenzentwicklung, die für die Laufbahnentwicklung von zentraler Bedeutung sind. Dies geschieht aufbauend auf für die Organisationsstrategie relevanten und in einem Kompetenzmodell systematisierten Kompetenzen. Empirische Forschungsergebnisse stützen zentrale Annahmen über den Nutzen, der der Implementierung eines Kompetenzmanagements zu Grunde liegt wie z. B. die Erhöhung der Beschäftigungsfähigkeit durch Kompetenzentwicklung. Zudem können durch die Organisation die Entwicklung individueller Laufbahnkompetenzen gefördert werden, um ein laufbahnförderliches Kompetenzmanagement zu gestalten.
