Zusammenfassung

Die rasch progrediente Verschlechterung der Herzfunktion aufgrund einer kardialen Dysfunktion bezeichnet man als akute Herzinsuffizienz und erfordert einen sofortigen Therapiebeginn. Dabei handelt es sich nicht um eine eigenständige Erkrankung, sondern um ein Syndrom aus verschiedenen typischen Symptomen und klinischen Zeichen, die auf dem Boden einer strukturellen oder funktionellen Herzerkrankung entstehen. Komplexe pathophysiologische Veränderungen der Herzfunktion resultieren in einer Erhöhung der intrakardialen Füllungsdrücke und letztlich einer unzureichenden Herzleistung.
