Zusammenfassung
Dysostosen sind Fehlbildungen einzelner Knochen oder Knochengruppen. Sie sind das Ergebnis einer gestörten Morphogenese in der frühen Embryonalzeit. Im Unterschied zu Dysplasien ist die pathologische Entwicklung bereits vor der Geburt abgeschlossen, und die fehlgebildeten Organe sind histologisch normal. Dysostose und Dysplasie können kombiniert auftreten, wenn ein Gen sowohl die pränatale Morphogenese als auch postnatal die Entwicklung und das Wachstum steuert. Ein Beispiel ist die Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, die sich bei der Geburt mit einer Hypoplasie der Großzehen, oft auch des Daumens, und postnatal mit ektopischer Knochenbildung in Muskel und Bindegewebe manifestiert. Dies kann durch die gestörte Funktion eines Signalgens erklärt werden, welches sowohl die Morphogenese als auch die postnatale Gewebshomeostase beeinflusst.
