Abstract

Innovative mathematician or representative of a tradition? Although Leonardo Fibonacci is considered one of the most important exponents of medieval mathematics, his originality, his expertise in knowledge originating from Arab and Latin environments, and his influence on the medieval Italian writings on the abbaco remain controversial.
