Jia Fan, MD, PhD, Professor, is a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Division of Life Sciences and Medical Sciences), President of Zhongshan Hospital (National Medical Center of China), Fudan University, President of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University (Xiamen Branch). He also serves as Vice Chairman of China Anti-Cancer Association, Vice Chairman of CSCO, President of China Surgery Association of Chinese Medical Doctor Association.
He majors in liver surgery, hepatobiliary neoplasms, and liver transplantation. He had engaged in clinical diagnosis and treatment and fundamental research of liver oncological surgery for over 30 years, and proposed the "Shanghai Fudan Criteria" of indications of liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma.
He had published 575 papers in SCI-indexed journals, including some high impact journals, such as Cell, Nature, Lancet Oncology, Cancer Discovery, Cancer Cell, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Gut. Up to now the highest citation frequency of these papers is 1 105 times.
He was awarded the first prize of Natural Science Award of Ministry of Education (2016) and the second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award (2012 and 2008) as the first accomplisher; Awarded the second prize of two National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (2015 and 2020) and the first prize of one National Scientific and Technological Progress Award (2006) as the major participant.
