Overview
Shape Memory and Superelasticity (SMJ) focuses on shape memory materials research with contributions from materials science and engineering, experimental and theoretical mechanics, mathematics, and physics. SMJ encourages content regarding material responses to external stimuli, such as force, displacement, temperature, magnetic fields, irradiation, and corrosive media that uncovers new phenomenon and applications.
- Topics include thermodynamics of transformation, fundamentals of superelasticity and shape memory, twinning, detwinning, and residual martensites.
- SMJ features fatigue and fracture of shape memory alloys, including grain boundaries, dislocation slip at interfaces, and martensite twinning.
- Journal content offers solutions to shape memory problems in industry (including biomedical, electronic, MEMS, ferro-magnetic, elastocaloric, and structural applications).
- Papers cover single and polycrystals of shape memory metals highlighting effects on superelasticity, recoverable strain levels, and processing methods on SMA responses.
- SMJ is a publication of the International Organization on Shape Memory and Superelastic Technologies, an affiliate society of ASM International.
