Abstract
Landslides are a significant and expensive hazard in urban areas, however, a universal methodology for classifying the damage to buildings has not been adopted This article proposes an intensity scale for structural damage caused by subsidence, compression, or extension of the ground during landslides and offers a checklist of site observations that could be made by planners, engineers, architects, surveyors, geologists, or gemorphologists.
