Abstract

The Colorado potato beetle (CPB) constitutes an interesting “target” insect for physical control, because several chemical treatments are otherwise required to control it, and since it is of major economic importance in potato production. Many research studies and various recent publications have led to the development of a number of non chemical means of control (Duchesne and Boiteau 1996), including thermal control. This work has stimulated the interest of potato growers in both the United States and Canada, where the problems associated with CPB are similar.
