Zusammenfassung
Unternehmen sind eingebettet in die Gesellschaft – das ist die Grundannahme einer gesellschaftsorientierten Unternehmenskommunikation. Damit Organisationen dauerhaft ihre „licence to operate“ erhalten und bewahren können sind sie auf Akzeptanz bzw. Legitimität der Umwelt angewiesen. Legitimität ist im Gegensatz zu anderen Attributen wie Image oder Reputation schwieriger zu modellieren und wird meist erst dann erkannt, wenn sie kritisch hinterfragt wird. Mit dem Stakeholder-Ansatz kann das Kommunikationsmanagement die Umwelt segmentieren und der Unternehmensführung helfen, besser auf deren Anforderungen zu reagieren. Stakeholder lassen sich nach grundlegenden Eigenschaften wie Macht, Dringlichkeit und Legitimität einteilen und entsprechend priorisieren. Damit grenzt sich der Ansatz von anderen Segmentierungsverfahren wie Zielgruppen oder Teilöffentlichkeiten ab. Der Beitrag führt in die Thematik ein und zeigt, dass die Stakeholderorientierung eine kontinuierliche Umfeldbetrachtung erfordert, bei der vor allem digitale Technologien und Plattformen als Seismographen einzusetzen sind.
