Zusammenfassung
Unternehmenskommunikation wird in Theorie und Praxis häufig auf die Vermittlung von Botschaften, Marken und Images an interne und externe Stakeholder oder auf die Beeinflussung von Meinungsbildungsprozessen reduziert. Dies verkennt, dass Kommunikation immer auch das Zuhören bzw. Wahrnehmen von Impulsen umfasst. Im Zeitalter globaler Mediendiskurse, weltweiter Datenströme und vielstimmiger gesellschaftlicher Interessen ist das Listening (in Ergänzung zum Messaging) ein Modus, mit dem das Kommunikationsmanagement einen eigenständigen Leistungsbeitrag zum Unternehmenserfolg erzielen kann. Besonders deutlich wird dies bei geschäftskritischen Themen, die von öffentlichem Interesse sind und daher in Massenmedien oder sozialen Medien diskutiert werden (Issues). Issues Management ermöglicht eine etablierte Vorgehensweise zur Identifikation, Selektion, Priorisierung, kommunikativen Bearbeitung und Evaluation solcher Themen. Der Beitrag erläutert die Bedeutung der nach innen gerichteten Kommunikationsaktivitäten von Unternehmen, umreißt theoretische Grundlagen und empirische Erkenntnisse zum Corporate Listening, und vermittelt die Grundlagen des Issues Management.
