Zusammenfassung
Die Diffusionsforschung besitzt eine lange Tradition bei der Analyse sog. Singulärgüter, die insbesondere dadurch gekennzeichnet sind, daß sie klar abgegrenzte Produktkategorien darstellen, die frei von komplementären Beziehungen zu anderen Produkten sind und über einen klar definierten originären Produktnutzen verfügen. Aufgrund der enormen Fortschritte in der Mikroelektronik und der herausragenden Bedeutung der Informations- und Computertechnik werden jedoch zunehmend Innovationen hervorgebracht, die durch Integrationsmerkmale gekennzeichnet sind, die sich allgemein darin konkretisieren, daß die volle Funktionsfähigkeit solcher Innovationen erst durch das Zusammenwirken mit anderen Produkten in einem System erzielt werden kann. Vielfältige Beispiele hierfür finden sich etwa in der Computer-, Elektro- und Telekommunikationsindustrie.
