Zusammenfassung
Der Klimawandel ist ein globales Problem mit weitreichenden Konsequenzen für die natürliche Umwelt und den Menschen. Die primäre Wissensproduktion zum Thema erfolgt in der Wissenschaft, die beständig das Verständnis des Phänomens, seiner Ursachen und Folgen verbessert. Wissenschaftliche Akteure sind aber nicht die einzigen Kommunikatoren des Klimawandels. Eine wichtige Rolle spielen auch zivilgesellschaftliche Akteure, die Informationen (via Massenmedien) an die breite Öffentlichkeit vermitteln (vgl. Mormont & Dasnoy 1995: 56; Besio & Pronzini 2010: 292). Ihre Kommunikation zeichnet sich dabei oftmals durch eine eindrückliche Bildsprache („climate time bomb“, Doyle 2007: 136) und eine Politisierung des Themas aus, was – so eine Annahme in der Literatur – zu einer verstärkten Aufmerksamkeit für das Thema führen könnte (vgl. Doyle 2009: 103 f.).
