Zusammenfassung
Die Philosophie des amerikanischen Pragmatismus bildet den Bezugspunkt für die Entwicklung der Chicago School of Philosophy und der Chicago School of Sociology, die beide als Vorläufer des Symbolischen Interaktionismus gelten (Rucker 1969; Lewis/Smith 1980; Shalin 1986; Joas 1988, 1992b; Manning 2003; Gross 2007).
