Zusammenfassung
Die vorliegende Studie untersucht, inwieweit bei bilingualen Kindern dieselben Faktoren für die Entwicklung von Lesekompetenz in der ersten bis zur dritten Klasse von Bedeutung sind wie für monolinguale Kinder. In einer Stichprobe von 169 Schülerinnen und Schülern (69 monolingual deutschsprachig, 100 bilingual türkisch-deutschsprachig) wurden kognitive Grundfähigkeiten, phonologische Bewusstheit, Wortschatz, verbales Arbeitsgedächtnis, Wortdekodierung und Leseverständnis über einen Zeitraum von zwei Jahren mehrfach erfasst. Da Forschung auf der Grundlage von Modellen der Lesekompetenz wiederholt gezeigt hat, dass phonologische Bewusstheit eine zentrale Rolle für die Leseentwicklung spielt, wurde der Frage nachgegangen, inwieweit dies auch für bilinguale Kinder gilt. Als bilinguale Teilstichprobe wurde die der türkisch-deutschsprachigen Kinder gewählt, da diese zu den größten in Deutschland lebenden Migrantengruppen zählen. Auf der Grundlage früherer Studien zum Zusammenhang zwischen Sprachhintergrund und phonologischer Bewusstheit wurde erwartet, dass bilingual türkisch-deutschsprachige Kinder bessere phonologische Fähigkeiten aufweisen würden als monolingual deutschsprachige Kinder und dass phonologische Bewusstheit bei den bilingualen Kindern ein weniger bedeutsamer Prädiktor von Lesekompetenz sein würde als bei den monolingualen Kindern. Es zeigte sich, dass die türkischdeutschsprachigen Kinder tendenziell tatsächlich etwas höhere Werte auf den Skalen der phonologischen Bewusstheit erzielten als die ausschließlich deutschsprachigen Kinder. Diese Unterschiede ließen sich jedoch nicht gegen den Zufall absichern. Im Wortschatztest war dagegen ein signifikanter Leistungsnachteil für die bilinguale Gruppe zu verzeichnen. Für die Dekodierfähigkeit und das Leseverständnis wiederum ergaben sich keine nachweisbaren Gruppenunterschiede. Der zweiten Hypothese entsprechend weisen die Ergebnisse einiger Analysen darauf hin, dass phonologische Bewusstheit für die Lesekompetenz türkisch-deutschsprachiger Kinder eine geringere Rolle spielt als für die Lesekompetenz ausschließlich deutschsprachiger Kinder. Die Befunde verdeutlichen, dass es in der Leseforschung notwendig ist, die besondere Situation von Kindern zu berücksichtigen, die unter Bedingungen der Mehrsprachigkeit Lesen lernen.
