Zusammenfassung
Als Kernelemente von Computersoftware sind Algorithmen eine wichtige Grundlage heutiger Medienund Informationssysteme. Im informationstheoretischen Sinne bezeichnet der Begriff ›Algorithmus‹, der auf die Übersetzung einer Schrift des persischen Gelehrten Muhammed al-Chwarizmi zurückgeht, eindeutig definierte Handlungsvorschriften zur Lösung von Problemen.
