Zusammenfassung
Neoliberalismus und Postfordismus sind Neologismen, die über die Bezeichnung epochaler Veränderungen des Kapitalismus seit der strukturellen Krise der 1970er Jahre hinaus einiges gemeinsam haben. Die Präfixe „neo“ und „post“ kennzeichnen zunächst eine Vergangenheit: Liberalismus als historisch bestimmte bürgerliche Weltanschauung (Gleichheit, Freiheit, Brüderlichkeit) und Fordismus als ebenfalls historisch bestimmte ökonomische Betriebsweise (industrielle Massenproduktion und tarifvertraglich sowie sozialstaatlich gesicherter Massenkonsum). Zugleich bleibt das näher zu Bezeichnende (NeoLiberalismus und PostFordismus) vage. Im ersten Falle wird es als „erneuert“ (wodurch, wie?) reklamiert und im zweiten Falle, nur temporal (post, nach) und noch vager, negativ als abgelöste, gleichsam vergangene Vergangenheit gefasst. Gemeinsam haben die Begriffe ferner, dass sie umkämpft sind. Ähnlich wie Gesellschaften als Kämpfe zwischen Klassen und Gruppen zu begreifen sind, toben bisweilen gemächlichere, bisweilen heftigere Kämpfe um die Interpretation von gesellschaftlichen Entwicklungen, die sich nicht zuletzt im Kampf um — in diesem Falle wahrlich nicht sehr zugespitzte — Kategorien der Gesellschaftsdiagnose niederschlagen. Zurecht können Gegner der Postfordismus-Terminologie ins Felde führen, dass auch nach der grossen Krise der 1970er Jahre kein Ende von Massenproduktion und -konsum abzusehen ist, während die Vertreter des Bruches keinesfalls zu Unrecht z.B. auf qualitative Veränderungen in der Arbeits- und Unternehmensorganisation sowie in der staatlichen Steuerung rekurrieren, die nicht zuletzt im Zusammenhang mit der Genese und Verbreitung von neoliberalen Ideen als Alternative zu sozialstaatlichem Denken stehen.
