Experimental Cytogenetics of Preimplantation Development

  • Chapter
Preimplantation Genetics

Abstract

The progress in preimplantation diagnosis depends mostly on the knowledge in basic science, especially on the achievements of developmental biology, developmental cytogenetics and molecular biology, i.e. on the studies of the controlling mechanisms of early mammalian development. Although preimplantation development is quite different in different mammalian species, there are many common features which characterize these stages of embryogenesis.
