Abstract
Malignant neoplasms originating outside the central nervous system (CNS), called here ‘systemic cancer,’ may affect the CNS in a variety of ways (Table 1) [1]. Approximately 20% of patients suffering from systemic cancer develop neurological symptoms at some time during their illness. Although metabolic encephalopathy is probably the most common complication, it usually appears terminally and plays little role in most of the course of the patient’s illness.
