Mechanisms of Woody Plant Defenses Against Insects

Abstract

Tortrix viridana is a major pest of the oaks in the west- palearctic region. It has a 1-year life cycle. Moths are present in late spring and early summer. Eggs are laid in pairs on the bark of twigs where they hatch the following spring. The first-instar (L1) larvae enter the flushing buds to initiate feeding. Large larvae finish feeding upon the expanded foliage.
