Fruit Science

Fruits are vital natural source of dietary fibre, vitamins, and antioxidants for healthy diets and for alleviating health disorders. Fruit crops have great genetic diversity resulting from both domestication and adaptation, which are ideal for studying plant evolution, growth development, trait genetics, gene identification, molecular tools and other aspects of plant biology. In addition, breeding of fruit trees with higher quality fruits, better tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses are required for fruit production as cash crops. Research in fruits and fruit trees has greatly accelerated with the rapid advances in molecular biology, genomics and other new technologies.

This special issue aims to publish interesting and impactful research discoveries in fruits and fruit trees to increase the impact of fruit research in the global plant and crop science community. Articles addressing fundamental questions in areas of basic and translational research are welcome. A review article should focus on a specific topic for milestones and state of the art fruit research in genetics, genomics, and molecular control of fruit traits.
