Abstract
The Research Institute of Radio Measurement Engineering at Kaunas was founded in 1958 and became an important research and production facility for the radio and communication requirements of the various military services in the Soviet Union. The Department of Microelectronics, now known as ‘Hibridas’ was set up during 1972 and specialized in the design and manufacture of microwave devices. Facilities included thick and thin film production equipment as well as metal packaging and hermetic sealing capability.
