Zusammenfassung
Nach Kubey und Csikszentmihalyi (1990) gibt es zwar Tausende von Fragebogenuntersuchungen zum Fernsehverhalten, aber bisher ist nur wenig darüber bekannt, wie mit dem Fernsehen tatsächlich in der häuslichen Umgebung umgegangen wird. Im besonderen gibt es kaum Untersuchungen zu den durch das Fernsehen hervorgerufenen emotionalen Reaktionen. Eine Ausnahme stellen dabei die sog. Beeper-Studien dar, die mit Hilfe von randomisierten Rufzeichen über einen Radiosender und entsprechenden Empfängern bei den Probanden, diese zur Einstufung ihres augenblicklichen Befindens veranlaßten (Kubey, 1986; Kubey & Csikszentmihalyi, 1990; Kubey & Larson, 1990; Larson, Kubey & Colletti, 1989). Aber auch hierbei handelt es sich letztlich nur um Selbsteinstufungen, die noch nichts über die physiologische Erregung, die von den meisten Forschern als wichtigster Bestandteil der emotionalen Erregung angesehen wird, aussagen. In mehreren Felduntersuchungen an Patienten und Gesunden, in denen dieselbe Methodik wie in der vorliegenden Untersuchung verwendet wurde, konnte gezeigt werden, daß die Probanden emotional bedingte physiologische Erregungen nicht korrekt wahrnehmen können (Myrtek & Brügner, 1996; Myrtek et al., 1995). Offensichtlich liegt dies an dem unterschiedlichen experimentellen Setting, da in der Emotionsforschung bisher nur Laborexperimente mit Induktion von Emotionen vorgenommen wurden, was bei den Probanden entsprechende Hypothesen über das Befinden induziert und somit die Korrelationen zwischen physiologischen Reaktionen und Befinden erhöht. Im Alltag dagegen gibt es keine Veranlassung, spezielle Hypothesen zu bilden; vielmehr werden hier die Selbstbeurteilungen durch zahlreiche und unterschiedliche Hinweisreize sowie durch kognitive Schemata (Pennebaker, 1982) beeinflußt. Es erscheint daher angebracht, neben den Selbsteinschätzungen der Befindlichkeit auch physiologische Parameter zu erheben, um die emotionale Beanspruchung während des Fernsehens zu erfassen.
