Zusammenfassung
Das Kapitel stellt die Theorie des kulturellen Traumas vor. Sie wurde Ende des letzten Jahrhunderts von einer Gruppe von Soziologen am Center for the Advancement of the Behavioral Sciences entwickelt und ist mittlerweile zu einem Forschungsparadigma avanciert, das einen theoretischen Rahmen für die vergleichende Analyse von kollektiven Reaktionen auf intensives Leid bietet. Nach einer kurzen Darstellung der grundlegenden Prinzipien und Ideen werden in diesem Kapitel verschiedene bereits abgeschlossene Studien sowie einige neue Forschungsansätze vorgestellt und diskutiert.
