Zusammenfassung
Tötungen von Neugeborenen, Säuglingen, Kleinkindern und Kindern sind insgesamt selten. Vor allem die Zahl der Tötungen von Neugeborenen hat im Vergleich zu der Situation vor der Liberalisierung des Schwangerschaftsabbruchs deutlich abgenommen, ebenso wie die Müttersterblichkeit nach illegalen Schwangerschaftsabbrüchen (z. B. beim sog. »Seifenabort«). Obwohl in Anbetracht der Berichterstattung in den Medien der Eindruck entstehen kann, es sei in den letzten Jahren und Jahrzehnten zu einer Zunahme von Tötungsdelikten an Säuglingen und Kindern gekommen, lässt sich eine solche Entwicklung statistisch nicht belegen.
