Zusammenfassung

Eine Rippenserienfraktur ist eine vital bedrohliche Verletzung nach einem stumpfen Thoraxtrauma. Die Prognose wird wesentlich von der Anzahl frakturierter Rippen, den Begleitverletzungen sowie von Alter und Komorbidität bestimmt. Die Indikation für eine operative Stabilisierung ist teilweise noch unklar. Vorteile für eine Stabilisierung werden im Wesentlichen in der Beseitigung der Deformierung, weniger akuten und chronischen Schmerzen und der Verkürzung von Intensivbehandlungstagen gesehen. Bei Patienten, die aus anderen Gründen beatmet werden müssen, kann die innere, pneumatische Schienung als Behandlung der Rippenfrakturen ausreichen. Für eine operative Stabilisierung stehen Verriegelungsplatten, Rippenklammern und intramedulläre Schienen zur Verfügung.
