Zusammenfassung
Bildeten Filme und ihre entsprechenden Kompositionen über viele Jahrzehnte hinweg eine untrennbare Einheit, so ist Filmmusik verstärkt auch ohne die Bilder zu erleben. Nicht nur die Not leidende Musikindustrie und einige Hörfunkstationen haben Filmmusik als einen Wachstumsmarkt erkannt, auch Orchester und Ensembles wenden sich inzwischen regelmäßig der Filmmusik zu und widmen ihr inzwischen ganze Abende. Waren Werke des filmmusikalischen Repertoires noch vor zehn, fünfzehn Jahren vornehmlich Faschings- und Silvesterkonzerten vorbehalten, so stehen Filmmusikvorführungen und Live-to-Projection-Konzerte wie selbstverständlich in den Spielplänen. Auch Education-Programme (und allgemein die Musikpädagogik / -vermittlung) erkennen Filmmusik als festen Bestandteil der Hörerfahrung von jungen Menschen und halten die entsprechenden Angebote bereit.
