Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to present an overview of the reliability and validity of the Structured Interview and the Jenkins Activity Survey, which were developed to assess the Type A coronary-prone behavior pattern. Evidence supporting the construct validity of the Type A pattern is reviewed including recent findings on the relationship between Type A behavior and physiological reactions. A schematic model is presented which integrates for hueristic purposes the interrelationships between behavioral and physiological processes that may lead to coronary heart disease.
