Abstract
A voracious reader in his youth, once while browsing in a bookshop, Fröhlich happened upon a German translation of the Tao Te Ching by the sixth century B. C. Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu. The Chinese sign for the somewhat obscure concept of “Tao” consists of a foot stepping tentatively followed by the sign for a long-haired (hence, wise) head.
