Abstract
My family emigrated to America in the early 1900s, so Iām third-generation American Italian. Every generation of my family has served in the US Armed Forces so we do see ourselves as American first and foremost, but Americans of Italian heritage and descent. It seems like a minor distinction, but I feel like the nuance is important.
