Zusammenfassung
Während Abbaudefekte von proteinverknüpften Zuckerstrukturen als lysosomale Speichererkrankungen schon Jahrzehnte bekannt sind, wurden angeborene Defekte der Biosynthese solcher Strukturen erst in den letzten Jahren als eigene Krankheitsgruppe erkannt. Seit der Publikation des ersten molekularen Defekts im Jahre 1995 ist das Wissen um diese Krankheiten rasch expandiert. Zur Zeit sind mehr als 100 verschiedene Erkrankungen bekannt und jedes Jahr kommen weitere dazu. Auch für Experten ist es schwierig, angesichts der Vielzahl der Erkrankungen die Übersicht zu behalten.
