Abstract
We introduce the notion of expected pair-wise comparison of a fuzzy random variable. It includes some well-known parameters such as the quadratic entropy of a random variable, the upper probability induced by a random set or the scalar variance of a fuzzy random variable as particular cases. The special case of expected dissimilitude is highlighted and shown as a useful alternative to the scalar variance when the images of the fuzzy random variable are not necessarily convex, nor in a numerical scale.
