Zusammenfassung
Die pathologische Untersuchung ist eine wesentliche Grundlage der Beurteilung von Organerkrankungen. Sie erfolgt durch Biopsie, Zytologie oder Untersuchung eines Resektionspräparates. Während bei der Biopsie ein Gewebe pathologisch untersucht wird, werden bei der Zytologie aspirierte oder von einer Oberfläche abgelöste Zellen begutachtet. Zur Abklärung endoskopisch oder transkutan gut erreichbarer Tumoren ist die histologische Untersuchung von Biopsien die Regel. Die Zytologie wird grundsätzlich bei der Untersuchung von Körperflüssigkeiten (Pleuragerguss, Aszites) angewendet. Vorrangiges Ziel beider Verfahren ist die Diagnose einer Tumorerkrankung vor Beginn einer weitergehenden Behandlung. Eine besondere Bedeutung hat die pathohistologische Beurteilung von Operationspräparaten. Hier erfolgt nicht nur die letztendliche Sicherung von Art und Ausmaß der Erkrankung sondern auch die Beurteilung der Vollständigkeit der Resektion, möglicher Therapieerfolge (Regression) oder auch von möglichen therapeutischen Zielstrukturen. Mit Hilfe der Schnellschnittuntersuchung können unter gezielter Indikationsstellung intraoperativ ausgewählte Gewebeproben in kurzer Zeit histologisch begutachtet werden.
