Nach dem 2004 erfolgten Ausschluss nicht verschreibungspflichtiger Arzneimittel aus der vertragsärztlichen Versorgung wurden in der Gruppe der Vitamine nahezu nur noch Vitamin-D-Präparate und Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) verordnet. Auch die Verordnungen der Mineralstoffpräparate, besonders von Magnesium nahmen erheblich ab.
